Quick Tip of the Day – Save your probe

The other day I noticed that my breakaway cable between my FishHawk probe and my cannon ball was showing some sign of wear and wasn’t going to be able to get a new one for at least several more trips. While I am more concerned with losing my probe, cannon balls aren’t exactly cheap to replace these days either.

Just to be safe, I took a spare dispy snubber and clipped it between the probe and the ball. This isn’t anything mind blowing I know but if sharing this saves someone a cannon ball or gets them fishing again because they lost a ball but have a spare and don’t have a breakaway cable it will work in a pinch.

I personally wouldn’t recommend using a dispy snubber as a long term replacement for a breakaway cable but in an emergency it’s a great option.

I picked this trick up while fishing with Chris and Pepper Inman of Our Leg-A-Sea Charters.
